Rachel Stauton
Assistant Musical Director
Rachel Staunton is Assistant Musical Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and enjoys working with a variety of choirs as a conductor in London and around the UK.
Rachel had a passion for choirs as a member of The Berkshire Youth Choir and The NYCGB. Studying at Royal Holloway College, University of London, she gained a First Class Honours degree in music before taking up her post-graduate studies in Choral Conducting at The Royal Academy of Music. In this time, she studied with many leading lights of the choral world, and had the opportunity to conduct the BBC Singers in master classes and performances, and graduated with several awards and prizes.
Rachel is an enthusiastic music educator giving workshops all over the country and she particularly enjoys adjudicating at festivals and competitions. Rachel is the Choral Consultant for Music in Offices and in this capacity enjoys giving workshops and master classes in companies across London. Recent highlights include leading choirs to the category finals of BBC Choir of the Year and the final of MIO Choir of the Year. Rachel is the Vocal Consultant for the Opera North Children’s Chorus (who join NYCGB tonight at the RAH!). Upcoming events include touring Spain with Harmony on Heels and a UK tour with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment to celebrate the Olympic year.
