Esther Jones
Associate Musical Director
Esther Jones is a professional conductor specialising in choral music and music education. She is a former member of NYCGB and is now Associate Musical Director, overseeing the Junior Choirs and their musicianship programme.
Esther read music at Oxford University, where she was organ scholar of University College. She studied choral conducting with Patrick Russill and Paul Brough at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM), winning several prizes. She became the first Open Academy Fellow in 2007 and now teaches part-time at the RAM.
Esther is in demand across the UK and beyond as a conductor, teacher and animateur. She directs several choirs including the Esterhazy Singers of London and Brighton Festival Youth Choir and is a founder-member of Vox Angelica vocal trio. Recent projects include directing the African premiere of L’Estrange’s Zimbe in Nairobi, Kenya, conducting on the soundtrack of the remake of Brighton Rock starring Helen Mirren and directing Haydn’s Creation in St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square. She also developed and recorded the music for the Church of England’s new website worshipworkshop.com.
